Moons of Saturn is an experiment in improvisation, created using a pair of chaotic oscillators in Native Instruments' Reaktor software. The project began as a way to design sound effects for my <AKTOR> series of release. But this material soon went further than mere SFX.
Over the last couple of years I have found that these tracks keep slipping into my live performances. So I have decided to release this album as music in its own right, for Saturnalia 2025. I wish you all the best for the coming season!
This album is also a way of celebrating Sonic Vigil 12, where those lucky enough to attend would have heard some of these sounds.

<AKTOR> is a subsidiary of Stolen Mirror that makes sound effects available under a generous creative commons license. These samples are perfect for your next film or game development project. We've even had people use them for their Dungeons & Dragons adventures! Visit the Stolen Mirror page.
Sonic Vigil 12 took place at Fota House, Co. Cork, Ireland on 1 November 2025. This unique event brought together Ireland’s most exciting improvisers, as it has done for twenty years. Over four hours two dozen performers (poets, dancers, musicians, etc.) were configured throughout Fota House. The audience were free to come and go as they pleased, visiting the changing mix in each of the rooms of this historic venue.
This album is free. But if you do pay, the profits will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières. Consider supporting these brave people directly to help those needing medical assistance due to conflict, epidemic, or disaster. Especially our friends in Gaza, where MSF have lost many workers to Israeli attacks. Free Palestine.
